Eating Clean | A Guide to West LA
March 4, 2017 -
If you know anything about Los Angeles, you are probably privy to the fact that in addition to it’s well dressed people, creative thinkers, and sunny climate, this place is famous for their healthy dining options. From salads to juices and even comfort food, you can find it all here in Los Angeles if you know where to look.
During the few months that I lived in LA, I had the chance to dine at some fantastic restaurants, and here are just a few of my favorites that are both healthy, and sure to satisfy any food craving.
~ The Butcher’s Daughter ~
I think I mentioned this place in one of my first posts, but it’s so good that I’m going to talk about it again. Located on Abbot Kinney Blvd, this restaurant is perfect place to go with friends, or even solo if you’re up for it! The menu is extensive and completely vegetarian. If you happen to stop by, I highly recommend the spicy kale caesar or the avocado toast. Both are great options that are nutritious and tasty. Any meat lovers out there? Fear not! Despite the fact that this restaurant is completely vegetarian, there actually are some options for you too. Try the Herbie’s Meatball Hero. This delicious sandwich is garnished with mushroom and walnut “meatballs”, a delicious tomato sauce, and fresh mozzarella. For any of you who are craving something hearty, this is definitely the dish for you.
~ Matthew Kenney Cuisine ~
Matthew Kenney Cuisine is an amazing restaurant in Venice, that is sure to impress. Their unique plant based dishes are unlike anything that I’ve ever tried, and I always leave this restaurant feeling perfectly satisfied. Additionally, Matthew Kenney has a culinary academy that focuses on using healthy ingredients to create fabulous dishes. So for any of you that are looking for a treat, or maybe even looking to expand your culinary skills, definitely check this place out!
~ Kreation ~
Kreation is a newer discovery for me, and a place that I have truly come to love. While they are mainly known for their smoothies and juices, this cafe has an extremely extensive menu that is worth taking a look at. *Tip: if you happen to stop by, try their almond milk latte; it’s delicious!*
~ Pressed Juicery ~
If you haven’t heard of this one, you’ve probably been living under a rock. Pressed Juicery is the perfect place to stop by if you’re looking for a quick grab-and-go snack. Their juices are delicious and extremely filling, and are the perfect mid-day energy booster.
~ Cafe Gratitude ~
I’ve been going to this restaurant for years at their location in the Bay Area, and was thrilled when I found out that there was one in Santa Monica too. Cafe Gratitude is an amazing vegan restaurant with great options ranging from soups and salads, to pastas and desserts. Additionally, their menu is constantly changing with the seasons, so you can always try something new when you're there.
If any of you readers end up trying any of these restaurants, or have any suggestions, I would love to hear your feedback!
Enjoy!
