My Travel Bucket List | 10 Places I Hope to Visit

My Travel Bucket List | 10 Places I Hope to Visit

March 12, 2017

With spring break just around the corner, traveling has been on my mind lately, and while I will be staying home this spring break, it hasn’t stopped me from dreaming of all of the destinations that I someday hope to visit.

Here are the top 10 places that I hope to travel to in the future:

1. Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is a vibrant city to say the least.  Located in Northern Europe, this place is filled with life.  Copenhagen is a new city in comparison to some of the other ones in Europe, and is known for being extremely green and heath conscious.  If you happen to be in the area, definitely do a bike tour, and be sure to check out some of their amazing, cutting edge restaurants.

2. Kyoto, Japan

Located on the Island of Honshu, Kyoto is a city in Japan that is known for it’s beautiful temples, palaces and gardens.  This place is rich with history and culture, and tourists are invited to take part in, and experience some of the traditional practices.  Whether you choose to visit one of their many temples, attend a Japanese tea ceremony, or take a walk through the lush gardens, there is so much to see in this beautiful city.

3. Amalfi, Italy

Amalfi is another place that has been on my radar for as long as I can remember.  This is one of those jaw dropping places.  Located on the water, below dramatically steep cliffs, Amalfi is sure to impress.  From stunning beaches, great shopping, and delicious food, this place has it all.

4. Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Located in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a city with a population of roughly 2.7 million.  It is one of those places that is unlike anywhere else, and worth visiting if you want to see something unearthly.  From their tall skyscrapers, to manmade islands, this city really is something else, and is a place that I hope to someday experience.

5. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is a city in the Netherlands that is known for its intricate canal system and artistic heritage.  Happen to visit this place?  Be sure to stop by the Museum District, where you can see pieces from some of the best artists’ of all time.  In addition to the art, this city is also known for their bike paths, so if you happen to be in the area, be sure to rent a bike and explore the city via two-wheeler.

6. Bora Bora

I’ve wanted to visit this place for as long as I remember, and the more I see, the more I want to go.  Bora Bora is a tiny island located in French Polynesia, that is surrounded by stunning mountains, and a vibrant coral reef.  This place is known for their amazing scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as their beautiful beaches and luxury resorts.  This is the perfect destination for anyone that is looking to “check out” and completely relax for a week or so.

7. Santorini, Greece

Santorini is another one of those places that will leave you speechless.  This island was destroyed back in the 16th century by a volcanic eruption, and still has a rugged landscape to this day.  Covered in little white houses, Santorini is the perfect travel destination.  Whether you choose to head down to the beach, go on a hike, shop, or eat some amazing mediterranean food, there’s something for everyone here.  Lastly, this place in known for their extraordinary sunsets, so don’t miss them!

8. Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is another one of those places that is located amongst astonishing landscape, and chances are, you learned about it in school.  Located high in the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu was once an Incan fort, and was known at the time for their sophisticated architecture, as well as being extremely difficult to access.  Today, it is a popular tourist attraction, and travelers can choose between dozens of hiking tours.  This really is a unique travel opportunity, and if you’re into hiking and adventure, it is the place to go.

9. Havana, Cuba

Havana is Cuba’s capital city, and is known for their old-fashioned ways.  Starting in the 1950’s and lasting up until just a few years ago, the United States had an embargo against Cuba, restricting all exports except for food and medicine.  Additionally, this place was closed to all tourists, unless they had a special travel license.  As a result of the embargo, Cuba didn’t really advance technologically in the same way that the United States has.  If you happen to visit, you may feel like you’re living the the ’50’s.  From the old cars, to the unique architecture, this city really has a life of its own.

10. Iceland

Iceland is one of those places that really does have it all.  From beautiful natural hotsprings, whale watching, extroadinary scenary, and the aurora borealis, this place is truly stunning, and somewhere that I hope to travel to in the near future!

I hope this list was helpful to anyone that is looking into traveling in the near future.
