New Years Resolutions
January 3, 2017 -
Every year after the holidays, I like to take some time to come up with new years resolutions. I think it is so important to go into the year with an intention, and think about how you can better yourself as an individual. Over the past few weeks, I’ve looked back at my resolutions from last year, and have come up with new ones for this year. Here are my 2018 New Years Resolutions:
Continue to Work On My Health
In looking back at my 2017 new years resolutions, one of the things that I am most proud of achieving, was my health. I went into the year feeling weak, tired and uncomfortable, and it took a lot of hard work to start feeling better. These improvements were very gradual, and it wasn’t until fairly recently that I really started to notice a huge difference in the way that I was feeling on a day to day basis. In 2018, I am determine to maintain the lifestyle adjustments that I’ve already made, and continue to improve my health in any way that I can. Over the course of 2017, I completely changed my diet as well as my relationship with food, which had a huge impact on the way that I was feeling. I’ve learned to enjoy food, and to let myself indulge in moderation. This year I hope to continue to work on my relationship with food, and to work on listening to what my body needs. Having a healthy outlook has worked wonders for me, and I am confident that I will only continue to improve in this aspect of my life.
Get a Job/Internship
I’m one of those people who hates having a ton of free time, and I definitely had more spare time than I anticipated last semester. This year, I’d love to get some sort of job or internship. Not only would this help me feel much more productive with my time, but it would also be a great way to meet new people and become more involved in the city.
Travel To Two New Places
This goal is definitely a little bit more far fetched, but I really hope to travel more in the new year. I want to see different parts of the world, and be exposed to new cultures, languages and beliefs. As a student in college, my travel funds are definitely limited, so I’m starting small and giving myself the goal of seeing two new places this year (and maybe even crossing of a destination from my travel bucket list!)
This was a goal of mine last year, and it’s a goal of mine again this year. I read a lot for school, but I’d like to start reading additional books outside of school as well. Reading is such a healthy hobby, and I love finding books that inspire me in one way or another. I’m not the fastest reader, but I do want to find a few new books that I enjoy over the course of 2018.
Be Better At Staying Connected With Friends/Family
This is something that is really difficult for me, but it is so important. I want to be better about checking in with my family/friends that I don’t get to see everyday. It is so important to nurture old friendships, and I find that it’s way to easy too forget to do so. This year, I want to be better about keeping in touch with my close friends and family, and do a better job at checking in with everyone more often.
Cheers to the New Year!
