Winter Skincare Routine
Winter is the hardest time of year for me to maintain healthy, hydrated skin. Over my holiday break, I spent two weeks in Sun Valley, ID. The combination of the dry climate and freezing cold temperatures definitely left me skin in need of a little extra tlc!
Here are a few products that I love to use during this time of year in order to ensure that my skin stays healthy and hydrated….
Masks
After washing my face, I love starting out with a mask. Depending on what your skin is needing, there are tons of different masks that you can use. During the wintertime when my skin is facing the consequences of the harsh cold weather, I’ll usually go for a mask that hydrates, sooths and/or brightens. When my skin is feeling dry and dull, I tend to look for masks that have either charcoal, rose or cucumber as the main ingredient. Charcoal is an extremely gentle detoxifier, and will help you achieve a flawless complextion, while rose helps maintain your skins balance, get rid of excess oil (which tends to occur when you’re skin is not hydrated), and helps with inflammation and irritation. Cucumber is great for cooling, soothing, and becuase it contains tons of water, it also adds a lot of moisture to your skin.
Hydrating Mist
Up until recently, I really thought that hydrating mist was completely unnecessary to my skincare routine. As it turns out, however, I was completely wrong. Before going in with moisturizer, it’s really important to prep your face with some sort of mist or toner. When you apply moisturizer to a wet face, as opposed to a dry one, it is able to soak into your skin much more easily, allowing you to experience the best results.
Moisturizer
Moisturizer is a crucial step in my skincare routine, as my skin tends to lean on the dry side. During the colder months of the year, I’ll always go for heavier moisturizers in order to ensure that my skin stays as hydrated as possible.
Undereye Treatment
In addition to using a face cream, I also like to go in with some sort of undereye treatment. Typically I’ll either use an eye mask or a standard eye cream. If I’m using a mask I’ll put it on right before mist, but if I’m using an eye cream, I’ll apply it after moisturizer.

seb.
