No Makeup Makeup: What I've Been Wearing Lately
We’re living in a strange time, and it can be difficult to find the motivation to maintain balance in life.
I’ll be honest, while in quarantine, there are some days where the last thing that I want to do is get up and get ready for the day… and for the first week or so, I really didn’t. But, I’ve found that dedicating a few minutes in the morning to myself has really helped me feel a little bit more normal during this strange time. Little things like doing my hair, putting on a fresh outfit and a little bit of makeup really does make the world of a difference.
So, this is exactly what I wear on a daily basis…
Before I get started, I always splash some cold water on my face and cleanse. The cold water instantly wakes my skin up on the morning, and is great for circulation. Typically, I use either the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser or the Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash to cleanse. If I’m really wanting to look and feel my best, I’ll do a lymphatic drainage massage on my face. This helps ease any tension in my jaw, and gets rid of all of the puffiness in my face. I did a full post on the benefits of lymphatic dranage, which I’ll link here.
Now onto the makeup…
Recently, I’ve really been into a natural look, so I go super light with the face makeup. If I feel like I need a little bit of extra coverage, I’ll go in with my Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint first, and then the Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer, and if my skin is feel ok, I’ll just use the concealer to brighten up any dark areas. I’ve tried both high end and drug store concealers, and I always end up back with this product; it’s light and dewy, and wears really well throughout the day. Hands down best drug store concealer on the market.
Next, I like to add some color to my face. My most used product at the moment is the Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Bronzer — it warms up my face perfectly, and feels soft and luxurious on the skin. I typically stay away from loose or pressed powders during the day, but this is one product that I will wear. If I want more of a sunkissed look, I’ll also go in with the Glossier Cloud Paint, and apply it to my cheeks, nose, lids… basically anywhere that the sun would naturally hit.
Lastly, I like to add a little bit of color to my lids. At the moment, I’m obsessed with the Laritzy Cosmetic’s Liquid Beam. This multipurpose illuminator adds a subtle glow, and blends really well. I’ll also blend a little bit of the O!Mega Bronzer into my crease using light upward strokes in order to give my eyes a more lifted look. Then, I curl my lashes and add a few coats of my favorite Dior Show Iconic Overcurl Mascara. I’ve been using this mascara since I started wearing makeup, and I think it will always be a fav. It’s one of the only mascaras that adds volume and keeps my lashes curled.
