Black-Owned Jewelry Brands To Support Now & Always

Black-Owned Jewelry Brands To Support Now & Always

June 14, 2020

I’m always on the hunt for new jewelry.

I love finding pieces that are timeless yet unique, and from brands that not everyone recognizes. Over the past week, I’ve been prowling the internet, and have rounded up a few black-owned jewelry brands that you simple must know about.

Omi Woods

@omiwoods

Omi Woods Jewelry is an ethical brand that celebrates its connection to Africa. Individually crafted, all of the jewelry is made of globally sourced, conflict-free metals. The solid-gold pieces come from small-scale artisanal mines that support the well-being of miners and their communities by paying them fair wages, contributing to improved health care, education, safely and living conditions. These pieces are meant to be worn daily, and passed down to future generations so that the meaning lives on.

White Space Jewelry

@whitespacejewelry

After becoming a mother, Khadijah Fulton (founder of White Space Jewelry) knew that she wanted to create something that honored a confident yet subdued interpretation of style; something that was wearable, but distinct. Khadijah works with small manufacturers and individual artisans in Downtown LA  to create pieces that are worn and loved for years.

Yam

@yam_nyc

Inspired to create after her mother brought home a jewelry making kit when she was a child, this company has been in the making for a lifetime. Yam is an ode to Morgan Thomas’s late mother. All pieces are carefully designed and handmade in Astoria, NY.

Jam + Rico

@jamandrico

Influenced by the culture of her immigrant grandparents, Lisette Scott created Jam + Rico (Jamaica and Puerto Rico) as a way to dive deeper into her love of designing as well as for the Caribbean. These beautifully crafted pieces are vibrant yet wearable, and difficult not to fall in love with.
