5 Black Female-Owned Brands & Businesses You Need To Know About

5 Black Female-Owned Brands & Businesses You Need To Know About

June 5, 2020

Over the past week or so, I’ve taken some necessary time to self-reflect and educate myself about the current issues that we’re facing as a nation. I’ve been deeply impacted by what I’ve seen this week, and I want to continue the dialogue on this deep-rooted issue and do my part to shift the narrative. I’ve always wanted this blog to be an inclusive and collaborative space, so moving forward, I’d like to shift the spotlight away from myself and have this be a platform for others. I want this to be a resource; a place for people to come and get up to date on not just the latest trends, but also on the smaller businesses and brands that not everyone is talking about just yet.

While my voice isn’t necessarily the one that needs to be heard right now, I do understand that I have this small platform, and it’s important to use it to contribute to this pivotal moment in time.

So, this week, I wanted to share with you readers a few black female-owned businesses that I’ve recently come across.

Castamira

Briogeo

@briogeo

Nancy Twine, CEO and founder of Briogeo, has been working on the perfect beauty recipe for her entire life… literally. Growing up, she would make homemade hair care products with her grandmother, and it wasn’t until she moved to New York City and switched to store bought product, that she realized how much the haircare industry lacked. So, with the help of a natural chemist team, she tweaked her grandmother’s original recipe to create what is now Briogeo; an all natural texture-specific haircare line that offers something for everyone. Whatever your hair type, Briogeo has something for you.
