The Best of 2018
For the past few years, my life has been filled with a lot of uncertainty. 2018 came with tons of growth and change, and I learned a lot over the course of this year. Here are (a few) of my favorite moments from 2018…
Starting off the new year with family
On new years day in Sun Valley, the majority of the town heads over to a local bar to celebrate the new year. I celebrated new years day this year with family and ran into tons of old friends. It was the perfect way to welcome 2018.
2. Attending the New School
Back in August of 2017, I moved to New York to attend the New School. While ultimately, I only ended up staying for a year, it was undeniably one of the best experiences I’ve had. I absolutely loved living in New York, and so enjoyed each and every one of my classes. While at the New School, I met some wonderful people, learned from some amazing professors, and gained a passion for learning.
3. Interning
Back in February, I started interning for a New York based company called OVERT, and it really was a defining aspect of the year. While working there, I helped out mostly with their social media pages, as well as the blog, and I was able to gain a lot of clarity regarding what I want to do in the future.
4. Spring Break Ski Trip
In march, I headed back home to Sun Valley, to get one last week of skiing. Last year our winter had a slow start, but while I was home in march, we ended up getting tons of snow and I had the best time skiing fresh tracks with my sibs.
5. Moving back to LA
Right after classes ended at the New School, I picked up and moved back to Los Angeles to return to Loyola Marymount University. This was a big decision for me, but it was definitely the right one. I just completed my first semester back at LMU, and have had the best time reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, and getting to know a new city. While I miss New York at times, I know with 100% certainty that I’m exactly where I should be. After two years of back to back moves and changes, this is the first time that I feel completely settled and at home.
6. Having my mom visit
At the end of May, my mom came to LA to visit with me and help me get all moved in. I hadn’t seen my mom for a few months, so it was really exciting and special to have her there with me during my move.
7. Family Trip to Hawaii
In July, I headed off to Hawaii for a week for a family vacation. We had the best time relaxing, catching up with each other and taking in the beautiful scenary. It was so special to have a full week of uninterrupted family time. This is definitely one of those trips that I’ll remember forever.
8. sister Time
In September, my sister came to visit me. She really never makes it down to LA, so we decided to play tourist for the weekend. I showed her all of the must see spots; we hiked, shopped and ate out at some of my favorite spots. We had such a fun weekend together, and it was really exciting for her to see my world.
9. Christmastime in San Francisco
While on my way to Sun Valley for Christmas this year, I stopped in San Francisco to visit with family. I absolutely love the Bay Area during the holidays, and I was reminded of how much I love San Francisco. I definitely plan on going up to the Bay Area more in the new year.
10. Working on this blog
I think I’ve put this in my “best of’s” every year, but working on this blog has been such a highlight. My blog continues to evolve with me as I grow and change, and it’s been such a great learning experience for me. Not only is this blog a wonderful creative outlet for me, but it’s also such a cool way for me to document my life. It’s so cool to look back on my posts, and see how I’ve changed in the two and a half years since I started this blog. When I started this site, I truly didn’t know what it would turn into, and if I would even still be posting after one year, let alone two. But it’s evolved into something that I’m so passionate about. I’ve learned so much through creating this site, and have only become more passionate about blogging. I’m so excited for what’s in store, and look forward to sharing it all with you readers!
Cheers to 2019!
