A Month At Modo | My Experience
April 4, 2018 -
Last month, I was feeling like switching up my workout routine, and decided to give yoga a go. I’ve taken a lot of yoga classes in the past and have loved it, but have never completely dove into the practive and made an effort to fully incorporate it into my life. I had been wanting to improve my own practice, and heard about an awesome deal that Modo Yoga (a studio in New York) was offering. So I decided to give it a go!
I signed up for a month long trial with the studio, which consisted of unlimited classes for the entire month for only $40, and started signing up for as many classes as possible…
I knew that I liked yoga, but I didn’t realize how much I love it. As a student, life can get super busy and hectic at times, and it can be difficult to find the time to workout. I find it really hard to wake up and immediately go for a run, or dive into a difficult cardio routine, and it can be tough to find the motivation to go to the gym later on in the day when class is finished.
Yoga, as it turns out, is the perfect way to start off the day. It’s challening in the most gentle and cleansing way, and actually makes me excited to get up early in the morning. My favorite class that I ended up taking was a 7am vinyasa flow, which required a 15 minute walk there at 6:30am (rain or shine I might add)… and it was still worth it… enough said!
In taking yoga classes, I was also interested to see if I would experience any physical changes. Running has been my go to form of exercise for years now, but sometimes it can be hard on my joints, and I wanted to see if I could find a more gentle alternative. Over the course of the month, I noticed a huge difference in my overall strength, and more specifically in my arms and core. My arms have always been really weak, so it was really cool to see and feel the difference!
Now that my month at modo yoga is up, I’m super bummed that I don’t have unlimited access to their classes anymore… But, I defnitely learend a lot, and am looking for more ways to incorporate this practice into my life. Overall, I would say that this trial membership was definitely worth it. I would highly reccomend it to anyone in the NYC area!
