An Incredible Experience

Just over a week ago, on one of my last evenings at home, my family and I decided to try something that we had never done. We wanted to spend our last moments together in the incredible valley that we grew up in doing something completely unconventional and out of the box for us. After brainstorming a bit, and bouncing ideas back and forth, we agreed upon an activity. On Saturday evening, we met up with the Fly Sun Valley team, and drove up the ski mountain for our first ever paragliding experience.
I’m not going to lie, I was scared to death. I tend to think worst case scenario (my friends and family make fun of me for it all the time), and this was no exception. On the drive up, my stomach was in knots, and by the time I was all harnessed in, I could barely even speak because I was so nervous. Immediately upon take off, however, I was completely taken away, stunned by the entire experience. I saw the town that I grew up in from a completely different perspective, and was able to check out for a few minutes, and just enjoy the moment. Nervous? Yes, and the feeling of looking down and seeing my feet dangling at 9,000 feet definitely didn’t help with that, but the entire experience was so surreal, that I almost forgot about the nerves.
While this was something that I never would have decided to do on my own, I’m so glad that I did, because it allowed me to push myself into doing something that I never would have even thought of doing, and it was pretty incredible. If you have the chance to do something that you’ve never done, even if the very thought of it scares you – do it. It’s important to push yourself in moderation, and do things that are a little out of the box for you. By doing so, you open yourself up to so much more of the world, and can partake in amazing experiences.
I personally am so glad that I got to participate in this experience with my family, even though it was scary for me, and look forward more incredible experiences to come.
