Find Your Beat
April 12, 2017 -
If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’re probably privy to the fact that I am a huge fan of music. It has always inspired and moved me in so many ways, and my passion for this specific art form is one of my defining factors.
I am an abstract thinker, and tend to tie songs and melodies into different periods in my life. Almost every song that I own has some sort of significance to me, and brings me back to a specific moment in time. This is precisely why I love music. Because it has the power to trigger profound memories and emotions, and can help you think in a new way.
So how can you incorporate music into your life in a productive way?
I encourage all of you readers to “find your beat.” Look for music that energizes and inspires you, and makes you feel happy and motivated. In my own life, I find that different types of music inspire me in different ways. For example: when I’m running, I tend to listen to music that is fast and a bit louder than what I would normally prefer. I completely disregard what is “tasteful” and “trendy”, and simple listen to what moves me; songs that I subconsciously syncopate each step to and that make me feel energized and excited. In this particular area in my life, having a song and a beat to run to pushes me to work harder than I normally would. I urge myself to make it to the end of a song, and after that another and another. This music almost gives me reason behind what I am doing, and it not only makes me more motivated, but it also helps the time go by a bit faster.
So find your beat. Discover music that moves you, and place reason behind each and every thing that you do. Use it as a motivating factor move you through the rough patches and the exciting times. Lastly, think about life in a melodic way, rather than as a series of incidents and outcomes. Tie each and every event together, and give life itself a beat of its own.
Cheers!
