5 Things To Do On Your Winter Vacation

5 Things To Do On Your Winter Vacation

December 14, 2016 -

Nothing screams Christmas time like a fresh layer of snow, and a day of fun on the ski mountain.  Growing up just minutes from a ski mountain, this was always something that I took for granted, and being away from it all for the first time ever, I realize just how lucky I was to have such fun activities right out my back door.  Although I don’t live in my tiny ski town year round anymore, I still am lucky enough to go back during the holidays, and have lots of fun shredding the slopes.  Having grown up in and around the snow, I’ve definitely been exposed to my fair share of winter activities.  Here are a few of my favorites that are perfect for any holiday vacation

Skiing

This one is definitely a given, and is a huge attraction.  I recommend getting up on the earlier side, so you can ski fresh tracks, and when you get tired or cold, make sure to stop by the lodge for some hot cocoa by the fire place.  There really is no better way to spend time with friends and family, than on the mountain.

Ice Skating

I totally understand that skiing just isn’t for everybody, so for those of you that were dragged along on a ski trip, and feel that there’s nothing for you to do, I’ve got your back!  Try ice skating.  It’s something that is fun for people of all ages, and if you’re lucky enough, you might even see some pros practicing their ice dances.

Snowshoeing

If you’re the type that loves to go on hikes in the summer, snowshoeing is definitely your thing! It’s such a fun way to get outside, and nothing beats the beauty of walking through a frozen forest.  Something about the stillness and silence is absolutely breathtaking, and you really feel like you’re in a winter wonderland.

Snowmobiling

For those that are looking for more of a rush, snowmobiling is perfect for you.  From jetting around meadows, to up and down hills, this is the perfect way to explore the area around you, and take in the amazing scenery, all while having a blast.

Get Cozy In The Lodge

There is no better feeling than getting cozy by the fireplace after a long day of activities in the snow.  This is the perfect place to share your stories and laughs from the day with friends and family, and get all relaxed and comfy for the night.  There really is no better way to end a fun day in the snow, than to sit by a crackling fire with your loved ones.

Cheers to a wonderful holiday vacation!
