A Little Bit of Advice

A Little Bit of Advice

September 19, 2016 -

I’ve been thinking and reflecting a lot lately; it’s kind of what I do when I’m experiencing changes in my life.  I think about the moments that brought me to where I am, and I think about how I want to continue my life in order to excel the most.  With all of this reflecting, I’ve thought of quite a few things that I wished I would have done in the past, and that I will definitely implement into my future.  These things are small and simple, yet they have the power to make a huge difference in the long run.

Take pictures – lots of them

Often times, we get too caught up in this idea of living solely in the moment, that we forget about the fact that one day, we may want to remember it.  While sometimes it may seem a bit unnecessary and shallow to take a picture with you and your friends, or of the beautiful sunset, these are the moments in life that we will want to look back on in the years to come.  So take lots of pictures, capture the raw and pure moments, and don’t delete the bad photos.  Someday you will want to look back on them.

Continue doing what makes you feel best

When going through changes in life, people tend to think that they have to hit the ‘restart’ button, and completely change everything in their life.  In my opinion, it is so important to keep doing the things that make you feel good, whether that be watching the sunset every night, or going on a morning run.  We can still continue to do the things that we love the most, all while incorporating new aspects into our lives as well.

Write down your thoughts

This is a new one for me, but it really has proven to help when I need to sort out my own thoughts.  Get a journal, and take 10 or 15 minutes a few times a week to write what you’re thinking, and where you are in your life.  Sometimes our thoughts get jumbled up in our own minds, so taking the time to write them down really help sort everything out.

Remember, home will always be home, and your loved ones are just a phone call away

When moving to a new place, it’s easy to feel completely isolated from the ones you love the most.  Home seems so far away, and it feels as if nothing will ever be the same.  In the moments that you are feeling homesick or sad, just remember that those you love the most are always going to be there for you, no matter what.  Sometimes all you need is to pick up the phone and call a loved one, they will always be happy to hear from you.
