Travel Diary: Shanghai, China
Finally getting around to sharing my pics from my trip to China back in March, 2019. I’ve been meaning to put this blog post together literally since the day I got back, but I’ve been so busy with school and work this semester, that I just haven’t had the time!
So (at last), here are some highlights from the trip…
EGG cafe (every morning)
By far the best coffee in Shanghai. Cashew milk latte + avo toast = perfection
Long Museum
Featuring a stunning space and a contemporary collection, this was a great way to start off the trip. We spent a few hours here on the first day taking in all of the artwork, and walking along the Huangpu River.
Jing’an Temple
Located in the Jing’an district, this breathtaking temple is surrounded by modern skyscrapers. Stepping into this serene space is such a cool contrast from the busy city. This was definitely one of my favorite stops of the week.
10 Corso Como
Next stop was none other than 10 Corso Como. Located just minutes away from the temple, this space truly is something else. This store is known mostly for carrying high end fashion labels, but there’s also a lovely book store and cafe. We spent about an hour here flipping through books and browsing China’s fashion trends.
The French Concession
By far one of the cutest places to walk around. Consisting of tiny streets with arched trees, cute boutiques and delicious restaurants and cafes, this place is made for the young culture in China. I can honestly say that I spent the majority of my free time roaming around and getting lost in this area.
Yu Garden
We spent one our last days in Shanghai at Yu Garden — an extensive botanical garden located right beside the City God Temple. This garden was quite honestly one of the most beautiful and tranquil spaces, and I so enjoyed walking around and taking it all in.
Shanghai Tower
Of course while we were in Shanghai, we had to visit the observation deck of the second tallest building in the world (after the Burj Khalifa). We picked the perfect day for this outing — clear blue skies, which is rare for Shanghai — and spent around 30 minutes watching the sunset from the 118th floor.
All in all, I had such a wonderful time in Shanghai, and am beyond grateful for this incredible experience.
Stay tuned for my Beijing post — coming soon!
xx,
seb.
